LYCIA
Kas (pronounced cash) on the Lycian coast was our next port of call, after leaving Marmaris Kas turned out to be a breath of fresh air, It's a small fishing port and tourist resort, and although it will become a bigger tourist resort the lack of beaches will stop Kas from being spoiled (it does have two so called beaches, Small pebble beach and Large pebble beach) Here we got accomadation including breakfast and a swimming pool for £8 per night at the Korsan Karakedi hotel (contact Suleyman Tel 90 242 836 1887) and set about doing our PADI open water dive licence's, with Ihlam on the Aquanaut dive boat. In Kas you are spoilt for choice as there are about nine dive boats all looking for your business, though Aquanaut were not the cheapest at 225 euro's they seemed to be the best, after four day's diving doing all the horrible stuff that you have to do to get your license, we decided to have a rest day and then we planned to dive for fun the following day, but Cliff woke up the next day with an ear infection so off we went to the doctor's, who advised Cliff not to dive for three day's and to return for a check-up before diving.

The next few day's were spent doing very little (blame it on the doctor) we did go and have a look at the Lycian Amphitheatre and the tomb of the Belly Dancer (100 m from our hotel) . But mostly we read our books (Jenny had borrowed abook from Aussie Kate) and caught up on the website, unfortuneatly by the time Cliff's ear infection had cleared up the Aquanaut boat had left Kas and gone to Fetiye for some maintenence, so we decided to leave Kas and head for Olympos.

Olympos has some excellent ruin's, these were easily the most interesting we have seen since leaving home, partly because they had not been spoilt by Archeaologist's and because most of the ruin's were lost in the tree's so you had to go and search out the best bit's for yourself. The accomadation here is limited to temparary building so it's treehouse's and wooden bungalow's only here, but it is very cheap and it is very laid back, almost to laid back, so two night's here was enough for us, it was time we headed for Cappadocia.
